Diplomatic relations between India and Uganda were \n\nestablished in 1965. Since then, the Indian High Commission has been functioning in Kampala continuously.\n
The High Commission is headed by the High Commissioner, who is currently Shri S.N. Ray.\n
The High Commission \n\nrepresents the Government of India in Uganda and, as such, is responsible for safeguarding and promoting Indian interests in the country. \n\nThese include a strong and multifaceted bilateral relationship with Uganda comprising political, economic, commercial, consular, \n\ncultural, scientific and other elements.
The High Commission of India undertakes activities of different types including \n\nprovision of consular services such as passports and visas. Detailed information on consular services is available in another section of \n\nthis website.
The High Commission of India is also accredited to Rwanda and Burundi. The foregoing in respect of Uganda is \n\ntherefore also applicable to these two countries.
